NOTICE OF INTENT TO EXPLORE <br />INVOLVING REMOVAL OF 250 TONS OR LESS OF COAL <br />.JEEP TRAIL COAL EXPLORATION PLAN AREA <br />PAGE 19 <br />The USDA Forest Service, Grand Mesa-Uncom ah re-Gunnison National Forests made <br />p 9 <br />a Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact for exploration hole IP2001-21. <br />The DN/FONSI was signed by Robert L. Storch, Forest Supervisor, on January 8, 2002. <br />A detailed threatened and endangered species study of the Iron Point Gulch Coal <br />Exploration Plan area can be found in Volume 1, Chapter 3 -Environmental Analysis, <br />Section 3.9.27, Threatened, Endangered, and Other Species of Concern of the book <br />entitled Final -Environmental Impact Statement, Iron Point Exploration License, Iron <br />Point Coal Lease Tract, Elk Creek Coal Lease Tract Delta and Gunnison Counties, <br />Colorado, February 2000, compiled by: Lead Agencies: -USDA Forest Service, USDI <br />Bureau of Land Management, Cooperating Agency -USDI Office of Surface Mining <br />Reclamation & Enforcement. <br />Extensive information concerning this exploration plan area is also supplied in the <br />Environmental Assessment prepared for the USDA-Forest Service, Rocky Mountain <br />Region, Grand Mesa-Uncompahgre-Gunnison National Forests, Paonia Ranger District, <br />Delta County, Colorado entitled Modification of Iron Point Coal Exploration License <br />(COC-61945) Bowie Resources, Limited, Bowie No. 2 Mine. <br />Site specific studies of wildlife habitat and inventory for T & E species are presented in <br />Appendix B. <br />National Re ister of Histori <br />g c Sites <br />There are no known districts, sites, buildings, structures, or objects in the XPA that <br />would be affected by exploration activities listed on, or eligible for listing on, the National <br />Register of Historic Sites. <br />Cultural or Archeological Resources <br />The road and drill site proposed for this Jeep Trail XPA was surveyed during the <br />environmental assessment for the Alder Creek Exploration Plan, COC-66126, NOI CX- <br />2002-08. Alder Creek Exploration Hole IP2001-21 aka IP2001-1 is in the same location <br />as proposed Jeep Trail exploration hole JT-1. A Cultural Resource and Archeological <br />Resource Survey of the access road and drill site (IP2001-1) was completed by Grand <br />River Institute and is attached in the Appendix A. <br />§2.02.7(1): Public Availability of Information <br />A complete copy of this Notice of Intent to Explore Involving the Removal of 250 Tons or <br />Less of Coal has been delivered to the Paonia Public Library, Paonia, Colorado. <br />§2.02.7(2): Confidentiality <br />None of the information contained in this Notice of Intent to Conduct Coal Exploration is <br />considered confidential. <br />
