NOTICE OF INTENT TO EXPLORE
INVOLVING REMOVAL OF 250 TONS OR LESS OF COAL
JEEP TRAIL COAL EXPLORATION PLAN AREA
PAGE 18
Depth of Drill Holes
Drill hole depths are given in the following table, which also provides the length of new
road construction required for access (approximate).
2 008 & 2009 Jeep Trail Coal Exploration Plan
New
Temporary New
Access Previously Temporary Estimated Estimated
Road Approved Improved Rotary Core Total
Hole Surface Required Access* Road Drilling Drilling Depth
Number Elevation Miles (Miles) (Miles) (Feet) (Feet) (Feet)
JT-1-9A 8,000 0.43 N/A N/A 1770 100 1870
JT-1-10A 8,000 N/A N/A N/A 1810 100 1910
Totals 0.43 N/A N/A 3580 200 3780
Aquifers
Aquifers are discussed in §2.02.2(2)(c), GROUND WATER above. BRL does not
anticipate encountering any significant aquifers in the course of the proposed exploration
program.
Method for Plugging Drill Holes
• Holes not completed as surveillance, gob vent holes or monitoring wells will be sealed
using cement or other approved sealant from total depth to within three feet of the
surface. Drill cuttings may be mixed with cement or other approved sealant during
sealing. Holes will be marked with afour-foot (minimum) steel roof bolt or a T-shaped
fence post. Sealing will be in compliance with §4.07.3.
That portion of the hole between the cement seal and the [reclaimed] ground surface will
be filled with dirt, drill cuttings, or both to minimize hazards to wildlife, livestock, and
humans.
Plans for Transfer and Modification of Exploration Drill Holes to Be Used as
Surveillance, Monitoring, or Water Wells
The operator will modify both of these holes into gob vents.
§2.02.2(2)(h): Endangered or Threatened Species
The road and drill site proposed for this Jeep Trail XPA was surveyed during the
environmental assessment for the Alder Creek Exploration Plan, COC-66126, NOI CX-
2002-08. Alder Creek Exploration Hole IP2001-21 aka IP2001-1 is in the same location
as proposed Jeep Trail exploration hole JT-1. The T & E Survey performed by Monarch
& Associates if enclosed as an appendix.
•
