4-11
• these entries are for development, and will not destroy the
Upper Cameo Seam resource. Exploration drilling from these
entries will, with no environmental damage, allow an accurate
assessment of the distribution of the Upper Cameo Seam and
the way in which the separation between the seams varies.
This information will allow a logical approach to the recovery
of the Upper Cameo to be presented in a, later permit applica-
tion.
4.3.2.4 Palisade Zone
The Palisade Zone has not been penetrated by a drill hole in
the Permit Area. In other portions of the Loma lease block,
• it has been penetrated four times. The maximum thickness
obtained was 6.4 feet in Section 3 in the southeast portion of
the lease block. This resource is not scheduled for mining
in this mining plan and the resource will not be affected by
presently scheduled development.
4.3.3 Other D9ineral Values
Although all exploration conducted by SEI in the mining plan
area has been directed at the coal reserves, no other mineral
values have been observed in the area. The area appears to
be open to mineral entry under the General Mining Law; however,
no minerals locatable under that law are known to occur in the
unit, nor are the geological conditions in the unit suitable
• for their occurrence. There appears to be little possibility
of conflict with oil and gas interest since geologic conditions
necessary for trapping oil and gas do not appear to be present.
