The Kokomo site at this time will be covered by the advancing
tailing in the Mayflower Tailing Pond. Before aggregate mining
commences at Kokomo, approximately .60, 000 cubic yards of topsoil
will be stripped and used immediately for reclamation, nursery or
stored in the Mayflower topsoil stockpile (35) for later use.
During autumn of 1977 , the Arkansas River again will be
relocated. The relocation will allow access to further aggregate
reserves when mining resumes around 1985, and be situated to
negate the necessity of relocating the river again. An Army
Corps of Engineers 404 Permit has been obtained as authorization
for the river relocation. When mining resumes, approximately
3, 000 cubic yards of remaining topsoil will be stripped and used
immediately for reclamation or stored in the immediate area (4)
for later use.
2-13
