MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D (CONT~
There are 4 types of soils found on the site. These soils
are typical along the South Platte River in Adams County. They
have no unusual qualities and are marginal for agricultural
purposes unless irrigated. The Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS) designation on the soils map are Units Lw, MISLD,
Tc and Wt. Descriptions for each soil are part of the NRCS
report that is in EXHIBITI/J of this application. These descrip-
tions are fairly consistent with what is found on the site.
SITE INFORMATION
Of the total 13.68 acres ± in the permit; 10.96 acres ± are
to be mine, and the remaining 2.72 acres ± will be in the mining
setback areas . Please refer to the MINING TIMETABLE on page 8 for
the estimated acreage of each area associated with this single
stage mine. The revegetation plan and methods used in each area
during reclamation are discussed in EXHIBIT E -RECLAMATION PLAN .
Sufficient quantities of soil will be available to reclaim
the area along the slopes that will need revegetation. The soils
on this area may not be of the highest quality, but will be
sufficient to meet our needs. The topsoil stockpiles will be
located around the mine area to reduce the haul distances when
reclamation starts . See the MINING PLAN MAP -MAP EXHIBIT C-1 for the
approximate location of areas discussed in this text.
This pit will be operated year-around, weather permitting,
as a specification aggregate supply for sale on the open market.
The area is a single stage due to the limited area of the mine
and the bond is calculated for total disturbance. Therefore,
mining can take place on parts of the entire permit area without
exceeding the bonded disturbance limits. Reclamation will run
concurrent with mining to reduce the amount of disturbance at any
one time.
This site has been used for many years as the home place for
the family patriarch. The outbuildings were used to store
agricultural machinery when the area around this site was farmed.
The electric and gas service to the buildings are owned by the
landowners and will be disconnected and removed before mining
begins. The greenhouses were built after farming ended and the
use of the property changed to a more commercial setting. Prior
to commencing mining the site will be stripped of `trees, houses,
greenhouses and buildings and disposed of properly.
5
