Fall 2007 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
l'hick soil and colluvium derived primarily from the Wasatch Formation were observed along
this traverse. The estimated thickness of the surticial material ranges from 75 to 250 feet, or
perhaps locally 300 feet. The colluvium on the sides of Dry Fork valley locally merges and
mixes with the alluvium in the Dry Fork valley floor (Figure 31).
In contrast to the small seeps and springs, and local water flowing down the road in the April
?007 traverse, no flows were observed during this September traverse.
~. ~ y _r
I' y~t~JyY l t) ~ '1 I ~ ~ f ~~µ •~ ~~~ Il ~` r7 • ' ~~. ~ y ~ `'
,,,~~ T :;w~~
a +k ~~r ' "t , St j
gip; ! ~ , - +`
~ . ~tj ~~.
