Fall 2007 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
• show rockfall/landslide activities increased signit7cantly after longwall mining occurred beneath
this area (i.e., compare Figures U-7 and D-~) and that there has been some, but minor, changes
since April ?1107 (i.e., compare Figure D-K and I~igurc 22).

•
[n addition, a new photographic observation point ? (photographic observation point ~ of the tall
field visit, Map I) was established in April 2007. [t provides a more complete view of the
headscarp area (Figure 23). Future attempts will be made to visit this location for annual
comparisons.
•
831-032.780 Wright Water Engineers, Inc. Page 36
November 2007
Figure 22. Eastward telephoto view from fall 2007 of the headscarp area shown in Figure 23. Photo
is taken from photographic observation point 4 (Map 1). Note that location 8 of this report is at the
top of the scarp above the right side of the left rockfall/landslide (upper left part of image). The active
rockfall/landslide on West Flatiron can be seen in the left background.
