III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br /> Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br /> during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br /> and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br /> This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of <br /> Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This processing and loadout site has been <br /> inactive since June 2001 after the closure of the Lorencito Mine (#C-96-084). Ground <br /> conditions on this day were dry and the weather was cool and breezy. <br /> Availability of Records <br /> The public copy of the mine records is kept at the office of Peak Project Management (PPM). <br /> The contact, address, and phone number for PPM is Ron Thompson, Peak Project <br /> Management, 34115 County Road 20.8, Trinidad, CO 81082, 719-846-4975. Records were <br /> found in compliance as detailed on page 2a of this report <br /> Signs and Markers <br /> Stream buffer signs are located at numerous locations on the north and south side of the <br /> Purgatoire River. Recurrent windy conditions have taken a toll on these signs. The operator <br /> should repair and replace these signs in accordance with Rule 4.02. <br /> Roads <br /> The access road to the RDA has been recently regraded. The surface was smooth with no <br /> ruts or erosional features. Culverts were found clear of sediment and debris. Roads at the <br /> facility area remain in good condition due to minimal traffic. <br /> Hydrologic Balance <br /> Ponds 6, 7, and 8 all Pond 8 below <br /> held moderate the RDA <br /> amounts of water. <br /> None were 9 <br /> discharging. Pond 4, <br /> the three <br /> containments at the - - -- <br /> RDA <br /> conveyor/Highway 12 r <br /> M <br /> intersection, and the <br /> two containments at <br /> Milk- <br /> the West Mine were <br /> found dry.
