KERB COAL COMPANY
ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT
1987
STATE PERMIT NUl[BER C-80-006
Introduction
This report describes all disturbance and reclamation activities
which have occurred at the Kerr Mine emphasizing those activities
which occurred during the period of October 1, 1986 through
September 30, 1987. As in the previous six pears, the mazket for
coal has remained soft, resulting in relatively low production
rates. Coal production at the Kerr Mine for the year was approx-
imately 7 percent of permitted capacity. Kerr Coal Company began
backfilling overburden from the Existing Overburden Stockpile to
the 720 Pit in November, 1986. This continued throughout much of
the yeaz resulting in over 400,000 compacted cubic yazda moved to
the 720 Pit from the Existing Overburden Stockpile. No new areas
were backfilled to their approximate original contour, graded,
retopsoiled or revegetated during the year.
New disturbance during the yeaz was limited to the Pit No. 1 area
and construction of a haul road and sedimentation pond. Pit No.
1 was expanded by 3.58 acres. A haul road which connects Pit No.
1 and the future Pit No. 2 azea was constructed during late 1986
and early 1987. This resulted in 2.45 acres of road disturbance
and a 0.32 acre soil stockpile. During the same period Sedimen-
tation Pond G was constructed resulting in 2.85 acres of pond
disturbance, 2.23 acres of new soil stockpiles and 0.73 acres of
additional drainage ditch (Ditch G-1). These new disturbed areas
aze depicted on the attached 1987 Reclamation Map.
-1-
