Exhibit D Reclamation Plan
Reclamation will begin upon the completion of all mining activity on the site. No phasing or
contemporaneous reclamation will take place due to the limited amount of space on the site.
Reclamation will begin by bringing the top surface to a relatively smooth 2% grade, draining
towards the eastern corner of the site where the retention pond will remain after reclamation.
Stockpiled salvaged topsoil will be distributed across the surface at a depth of approximately 2 to
6 inches.
The disturbed slopes around the edge of the site will be revegetated in the fall immediately
following the commencement of all mining activities. The seeding will occur between September
15th and December 1St. The method of seed placement will be broadcasting. One of the following
methods will be used to protect the seed on slopes over 5%: erosion control blankets; turf
reinforcement mats; mulching, then crimping; hydromulching; or hydromatting. The reclamation
seeding mix is located in Appendix E. This is a seed mixture used by Marathon for their other
reclamation activities in the area. Some natural invasion of forbs and woody plants from the
surrounding areas are expected.
Weed control will be implemented prior to and during revegetation activities. This does not
mean the operator will attempt to kill all weeds, since some provide natural ground cover and
shade for emerging areas. Surveying for noxious and/or problematic weeds and implementing
weed control will occur every year the permit is in effect. Weed control activities will follow
those outlined in the Sitewide Weed Management Plan (Appendix F).
Reclamation Cost Estimate
The following reclamation cost estimate is based on the proposal that there will be no more
than 9.1 acres ± disturbed at any one time. The site surface will be graded to a 2% slope when
mining ceases. The table below outlines the stages of the reclamation process. A dozer will be
used to shape and grade the staging area. The seed mix and the labor to broadcast the seed are
also included in this estimate. The Reclamation Cost Estimate is $16,731.00; however, the bond
recommendation is $20,000.00 to ensure that any additional potential costs are accounted for.
Stage Total
Surface Grading 9.9 AC.
Revegetation 9.9 AC.
Estimated Unit Costs for Reclamation Items:
Unit Cost
1. Revegetation area includes grass seed and labor $900.00/AC.
2. Grading $135.00/hour
E07147 PAGE 7 OF 16 CORDILLERAN COMPLIANCE SERVICES, INC
CIRCLE DOT QUARRY GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO
