Logan Wash Mine Annual Report
Permit No.: M-1977.424
Road be reclaimed by pulling back sidecast fill onto the road and creating a sloped, transitional
surface to the upslope area. There is a small possibility that the road will remain in place for local
cattle use. GSHI will reclaim the road when they have received formal release from DMG for the
reclaimed lands on the mine benches and roads. Release is not expected to occur for several
years after revegetation work is conducted in these areas.
Specific reclamation activities expected to be conducted during 2005 include
• Prepare and submit Technical Revision No. 6 which will (1) specify and provide required
information to establish a soil source (barrow area) for amending mine benches and
roads, and (2) describe the proposed construction of a pipeline from the Research Mine
discharge pipe (Outfall 002) to the L-1 Portal discharge pipe (Outfall 001).
• Install pipeline from the Research Mine discharge pipe (Outfall 002) to the L-1 Portal
discharge pipe (Outfall 001).
• Conduct maintenance of existing planted native shrubs on the Upper and Lower Dump
slopes. This includes installation of irrigation supplements, irrigation with mine water
and possibly imported water sources, some plant replacement, terrace and pocket repairs,
fertilizing, and mulching where necessary.
• Install final stormwater channels and outlets as specified in TR No.S.
• Revegetation of Upper Bench Road, Lower Bench, Lower Bench Road, and Research
Mine Bench including the following activities:
o establish a soil source area and import and grade soil substrate onto bench and
road surfaces
o seeding (by drilling where possible),
o mulching and fertilizing
• Regrade and scarify, seed, and mulch the Lower Access Road (regrade and contour as
needed).
• Revegetate soil barrow area.
• Abandon wells LW-12, LW-22, and LW-242 (ID uncertain). Leave Well LWCW-lA in
place as "point of compliance" well.
GSHI does not intend to reclaim the evaporation pond as it is necessary for the treatment of retort
drainage water from the mine.
7.0 Anticipated Disturbance in the Year 2005
New disturbance of several acres may occur within the mine permit area associated with the soil
barrow area needed to provide soil amendments to mine benches and roads. The soil barrow area
may be located at an offsite area requiring a separate 110 permit. The soil barrow area and
barrowing plan will be described in a TR or other appropriate document (permit). Any peripheral
acreage disturbed during reclamation activities will be reclaimed in accordance with the
Reclamation Plan (see TR No. 4).
Western Water & Land, Inc. 7
