A. J. Waldron -2- June 29, 1995
drain monitoring information presented in the 1993 AHR was not
required by the permit and therefore should not be one of the
Division's concerns.
The monitoring requirements presented on page 2.04-30b do
require the french drains to be monitored for field parameters
which includes temperature. Therefore, a revised permit page
is not required. Bear will collect temperature information on
the french drains in the future.
4. The Division's review and comparison of the 1993 AHR and 1993
DMR's precipitated questions regarding TSS and flow for the
1st and 2nd quarters of the 1993 DMR's. It appears from the
data available that the lab reports for the period April 19
through May 3, 1993 were not available or utilized for the
preparation of the 2nd quarter DMR's.
It appears that about 24,000 gallons were discharged during
the 1st quarter 1993. According to the DMR, the 30 day
average was 720 gallons per day (720 X 30 = 21,600 gallons).
The 2nd quarter 1993 DMR had the 30-day average and the daily
maximum flows reversed.
5. "NT" was recorded for the water level of AA1 during the 4th
quarter 1992. "NT" means none taken probably due to a problem
with the water level instrument.
6. Enclosed is a table which presents the field parameters
collected for G-26A, G-26B and CR-12. This data is collected
by an outside consultant and it was not available during the
preparation of the 1994 AHR.
Oualitv Analysis and Predictions
1. The Division finds fault with the statement in the 1992 AHR
"although ground water test data is elevated over the previous
year, it appears it was not due to conditions associated with
the mining operations at the Bear #3 Mine". Taken in context
this statement does make sense. The paragraph preceding this
statement indicates that test data was elevated at both AA1
and AA3. AA3 is the well that is presumably unaffected by the
mining operation, if both wells are "elevated" then it could
be concluded that it was not due to conditions associated with
the mining operations at the Bear #3 Mine.
Report Content Requirements
1993 Annual Hydrologic Report
1. The Division asks as part of the required assessment of
