Cotter Coreoration
Mr. David C. Shelton
September 30, 1985
Page Three
cost for purchase and placement of topsoil, seeding, mulching, fertilizing,
labor, and fuel was included in Exhibit L of the mining permit. The major
difference between what is proposed in the current permit and what we hope
to accomplish with a technical revision is backfilling the access road
rather than topsoiling it. The cost associated with topsoil purchase and
placement over 2.5 acres, six inches deep, (based on figures in Exhibit L
of the permit) is $10,083.33. The cost for backfilling 4,600 feet of the
access road is $18,124.00 (see attachment #2 ). Accordingly, Cotter's surety
bond will be increased by $8,041.00 to reflect the difference bebdeen these
two reclamation costs. Based on the foregoing, Cotter Corporation requests
Board approval of this technical revision and surety bond adjustm?nt.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this transmittal.
Sincerely,
SL/rg
Enclosure
~~ / C.,--
Timothy C. Smith
Director of Environmental
Affairs
File No. 8186K8630-10-3
