gravel nuning operation began in 1974 and was unique to Boulder County and the
Front Range because much of the gravel rruned from [he site was transported from
the mine site by train.
In 1977, the mining and reclamation plan was revised. The new plan involved
preserving the natural riparian areas along both the St. Vrain and South St. Vrain
corridors. In 1935 the plan was again revised to add 40 more acres to the mining
area and to create a fourth lake on the property. This lake was to be sealed and used
as a water storage reservoir for the augmentation of evaporative loss from ground-
water-fed lakes created as a result of rrtininr;,
Today, the Rockin' WP Special Use Permit remains active with sand and
gravel mining from an adjacent parcel, transported by conveyor to the existing
processing and rail silo storage facility located irrunediately north of the St. Vrain.
This parcel is owned by Western Mobile.
2.
