BANTA, Director
DATE: July 13, 1989
T0: Jeff Clayton
FROM: Jim Pendleton
RE: Red Ca fi Mine - Sub ence Monitoring Report - May, 1989
(Permit #C-81-034)
I have reviewed the May, 1989 Subsidence Monitoring report submitted by Red
Canyon mine, which you forwarded to nV' attention. I compared the observed
subsidence movements in May, 1989 with those documented in April, 1986. Some
minor resdiual subsidence has manifested itself during the past three years,
while the mine has been in cessation (maximum .3 feet). However, none of the
protected structures has been affected by subsidence.
Grand Mesa Coal Company is in compliance with the susidence requirements
placed upon its permit. I recommend acceptance of the report as submitted.
cc: Susan Mowry
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel. (303) 866-3567
