Kvaerner Metals Protect No. 306900
General Specification No. GC-18
' Geosynthetic Lining
satisfactorily been demonstrated by prior use to be suitable and durable for such
' purpose.
The sheet shall be uniform in color, thickness, size, and surface texture. It shall
' be free of pinholes, blisters, nodules, contaminants, and other imperfections. It
shall not contain reclaimed polymers, fillers, plasticizers or extenders. Carbon
black shall be added to the resin for ultra-violet resistance. Additives such as anti-
, oxidants, heat stabilizers may be added, as required for manufacturing of the
product.
' The surface of the HDPE sheets shall not have striations, roughness, pinhole
bubbles or factory patches. Liner material shall not be folded at any time. The
finished product shall be supplied as prefabricated panels in rolls, custom
designed for this project so as to minimize field seaming.
The material shall be certified in writing by the manufacturer to meet minimum
' property values as specified in this specification.
The HDPE liner shall have a smooth surface and thickness as specified on the
' design drawings.
The HDPE plastic material shall meet the following minimum property values:
Pro a Value Test Method
Thickness 60 mils ASTM D1593
' Density 0.940 g/cc ASTM D1505
' Tensile Properties ASTM D638
(each direction)
Strength at yield 132 ppi
Strength at break 240 ppi
Elongation at yield 12%
Elongation at break 700%
'
Modulus of elasticity 80,000 psi ASTM D882
Tear Resistance 45 Ibs ASTM D1004
(Die C)
' Puncture Resistance SO Ibs FTMS 101C
(Method 2065)
' Hydrostatic Resistance 60C psi ASTM D570
(Method A)
' Low Temperature Impact -94°F ASTM D746
(Procedure B)
J llW9~WPl5PEClSTRIICTGLtBSPC DOC Rer ~0~ C Prinie0 hna ~ 1999
. , ,
