•
Introduction
The information assembled in this 1994 Annual Hydrology Report (AXR) includes date
collected from all water monitoring sites at Seneca Coel Company's (SCC) Hayden Gulch
Terminal (HGT, State Permit No. C-92-081) for the calendar year 1994. Previous ANRs
submitted were also compiled according to calendar years (as opposed to water years).
Locations of water monitoring sites can be found in Figure 1 (Appendix A).
Meteoroloaicel Date
No meteorological date is collected at the MGT. Xowever, SCC does collect meteorological
date et its Seneca II end Seneca II-Y Mines. The reader is referred to those ANRs for
that data. Noteworthy of mention for this year is the lower then average snowfall end
summer rainfall.
Water Semolina and Measurement Techniques
Field conductivity and pH ureters Were calibrated prior to each days use. The conductivity
• meter is calibrated using a potassium chloride solution With en electrical conductivity In
the 1,000 to 3,000 umhos/cm range. The pX meter is calibrated using NBS traceable buffers
With pX values of 7 end 10. Water level measurements are taken With a Water level
indicator or directly from a steel tape.
Table 1 (Appendix A) shows the surface Water parameter list used for ell stream sites.
Table 2 (Appendix A) shows the ground Water parameter list used for all wells. Analyses
ere performed by ACZ Laboratory in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. ACZ Laboratory performs
all analyses by EPA or equivalent methods. Samples ere delivered the day of collection to
the lab in an iced cooler.
Surface Water
There are two NPDES sites at xGT, 001 and 002. NPDES 002 did not flout in 1994. NPDES 001
did not flout through its principal spillway in 1994. However, NPDES 001 Wes dewatered on
March 2, 1994 (after all snowmelt) to provide additional storage capacity for potential
rainfall events. An analysis of the sample collected on that date is provided in Appendix
• B, Yater Ouelity Reports. No NPDES effluent limits were exceeded. Discharge monitoring
reports ere provided in Appendix C.
1
