Substitute Supply Ptan for the
I C. EvPrict Aoor~,Qata Onaratinn
Old Whetstone/Sheep Creek Ditch
The Old Whetstone/Sheep Creek Ditch is decreed for 1.0 cfs from Sheep Creek. A copy of the
decree is included as Attachment 4. This right has an appropriation date of July 1, 1883, an
adjudication date of March 2, 1910, and an administration number of 12235.00000.
Diversion records for the Old Whetstone/Sheep Creek Ditch aze summarized in Table 3B. Table
3B indicates that for the period from 1966 to 1994, the ditch diverted an average of 176.9 acre-
feet per yeaz, with the total amount of water in the dry year of 1978 equaling ] 78.2 acre-feet.
Table 3B shows that the average diversion rate for the ditch (1966 to 1994) was 0.7 cfs.
The historic consumptive use of the Old Whetstone/Sheep Creek Ditch was estimated using historic
irrigated acreage based on aerial photographs, interviews with past and present irrigators, the
District 36 Water Commissioner, a field inspection, and analysis of diversion records for the ditch.
Aerial photographs taken in 1974 and 1988 show that 17 acres of pasture grass were historically
irrigated with this ditch as shown on Drawing 2. Of this, approximately 10.5 acres have been
determined to be jurisdictional wetlands. As a result, the curtailment of irrigation using this
source will result in the dry-up of approximately 6.5 acres. Using the dry-year consumptive use
established by the Penman-Monteith method (1.62 acre-feet per acre), this results in a total of
10.5 acre-feet. The historic consumptive use by month is stmmarized in Table 4B.
McKay Ditch
The McKay Ditch is decreed for 18.67 cfs from the Blue River. A copy of the decree is included
as Attachment 5. This right has an appropriation date of October ], 1926, an adjudication date of
March 10, 1952, and an administration number of 32075.28032.
Diversion records for the McKay Ditch aze summarized in Table 3C. Table 3C indicates that for
the period from 1964 to 1994, the ditch diverted an average of 1,867.6 acre-feet per year, with
881-025.110 Wright Water Engineers, Inc. Page 8
