Permittee Name: Wh~ater Building Materials, Cor~
Permit No: M-77-129
Operation Name: Whitewater 500 Pit
Anniversary Date: 09 / 22 / 96
We will deal specifically
requirements as outlined in Rule
and in the annual notice letter.
•
Page 2
with each of the Annual Report
1.15 of the Rules and Regulations,
(1) Mining continued in Stages 2, B & D as approved, on the areas
previously stripped. Mining continued in Stage 2, 11.05 ac ±;
in Stage B, 0.61 ac. ± and in Stage D, 1.16 ac. ± as shown on
Map 2 (green). The Plant Site in Stages W, Z and 2 is still
in use (lite yellow). We have 7.32 acres in Stage 2 and 4.03
in Stage D stripped ready for mining (purple). The river bank
erosion in Stages Y (300 ft) and Z (600 ft) stabilized this
year (red) and no new erosion has occurred.
(2) Most of the reclamation is complete in Stage 1 at this time.
The lake reached its final level this spring and we began
planting Broad-leaf and Narrow-leaf cattails in the area lined
in green. During high water the area colored blue was
inundated as we expected. No additional slopes were created
this year in stage 2 because the mine face has not reached an
area that will be lake shore area when mining is complete.
All the revegetation areas in Stages X, Y and 1 are resoiled
ready for seeding. The severe draught in 1995 & 1996 has
impacted all vegetation on the site, therefore no revegetation
efforts were made or required this year. We have 800 YD3 of
topsoil stored in Stage 1 and 4,500 YD' in Stage 2 (orange).
We have approximately 600 YD' of gravel stored near the
topsoil in Stage 1 that will be used to dress the roads (dark
green).
(3) We will mine on 7.32 acres ± in Stage 2 this year (purple) and
on the 4.03 acres ± stripped in Stage D (purple). If more area
is needed we will resume stripping towards the east side of
both stages.
(4) The amendment submitted in 1981 explained that until we stop
dewatering Stage 1 the chances of establishing vegetation in
Stages X, Y and the banks of Stage 1, are very slim because of
the very and conditions in this area. The unstable slope on
the east side of the Stage 1 (1390 feet) has stabilized and we
will begin to add material to complete the sloping in that
area (dark blue). Bank sloping and grading will continue once
mining is completed on a shore line that will not be disturbed
in the future. if favorable weather patterns occur this
winter and the ground water table stabilizes it may be
possible to attempt seeding the areas west of and around the
Stage 1 lake.
