Herbaceous sampling was conducted on the four reference areas
and compared statistically to the reclaimed area. The
reclaimed area cover data summary can be found in Exhibit 8,
Revegetation Monitoring. The data for reference areas and the
appropriate statistical tests used to demonstrate the
achievement of Phase II bond release requirements will be
submitted at a later date as part of a complete bond release
package.
Methodoloav
Herbaceous cover data was collected on June 26 and 27, 1990.
one 50 foot transect was sampled in each year of reclamation
and placed in a random compass direction. At each of 5
randomly selected points along the transect a to point frame
was utilized at a 45° angle to collect cover data. The first
intercept of each pin on herbaceous vegetation, litter or bare
ground was recorded.
Results
Exhibit 8, HG Mine, 1979-1987 Reclaimed Areas, 1990 Cover
Data, summarizes the cover data information.
The data indicates a total herbaceous cover of 64.44$, an
excellent level of cover for rangeland.
2
