6.3 Sanborn Creek Mine Water Discharge
Outfa11011 is OMI's CDPS mine water discharge point from Sanbom Creek Mine that
discharges into Sanborn Creek. Outfal1011 was sampled in May, June, September and
December of 2000 and analyzed for the full-suite of groundwater quality pazameters, as required
by Technical Revision No. 20. The data collected from Outfa11011, along with the results of
laboratory analyses aze presented in Section 5. Minimum and maximum measurements for the
baseline year(s) of this resource maybe referenced in OMI's 1998 Annual Hydrology Report.
Although analyses of mine water samples may have shown higher levels than baseline data for
some pazameters, based on a January 30, 1995, Colorado School of Mines, Division of
Environmental Science and Engineering final report entitled, "Aquatic Impairment Study of the
Sanbom Creek Mine Discharge, Somerset, Colorado", OMI believes that no impact resulted.
The report concluded that mine water dischazges from the Sanborn Creek Mine have minimal
effect on stream macroinvertebrates. Also, there is little, if any effect on the overall food base
for fish, and the use of the river for fishing is not impaired.
The mine inflow locations are presented on the Mine Inflow Map in Section 7.
170
