pressurized by gases, so no water elevation measurements in the Rollins Sandstone can be
obtained.
Water in the Rollins Sandstone is confined to limited localized zones that aze fractured and/or
contained above the Rollins, as evidenced by water level measurements that are well above the
' top of the sandstone member. Water quality is poor, with high total dissolved solids as sodium
chloride. Inflow and recovery of the water level in the drill holes indicates very low
permeability and porosity of the sandstone. There has been some variability in the water levels
' measured in wells SC-1, SC-2 and TC-1, but there has been no appazent trend or indication of
impact. SC-2 could not be monitored in September and December possibly due to a neazby
' active landslide hazazd. No significant difference in the 2000 monitoring results from baseline
or historical measurements was noted.
' Monitoring of well SC-3 provides information on the water-bearing zone in the vicinity of the D-
Seam located some 200 feet above the B coal seam being mined in the Sanborn Creek mine.
There has been some variability of water level in this well, but shows no appazent trend or
' indication of impact. No significant difference in the 2000 monitoring results from baseline or
historical measurements was noted.
Monitoring well WSC DH12, a methane degasification drill hole for the abandoned Hawk's Nest
Mine, is monitored in June of each yeaz for field pazameters, and a sample is taken for analysis
of the full suite of groundwater quality pazameters. On June 20, 2000 the well was found to be
dry so no sample was taken. No significant difference in the 2000 monitoring results from
baseline or historical measurements was noted.
' Well TC-2 was completed in the North Fork alluvium to the east of Thompson Creek late in the
spring of 1997. No significant difference in the 2000 monitoring results from baseline or
historical measurements was noted.

t

1
169
