Fish Creek Drainage. Seven monitoring sites exist within the Fish Creek drainage: NPDES
004 end Sites 6 and 10 are located on Cow Cemp Creek. NPDES 008 and Site 12 are located •
on Bond Creek. Sites 11 and 13 exist on Fish Creek.
NPDES Discharge Point 004. Xydrographs based on weekly flow measurements are presented in
Appendix F. The hydrographs for NPDES sites consist of two parts; the first being data
for 1994 only, while the second shows historical data from July, 1982 to September, 1994.
The yearly average flow Cfrom weekly measurements) since this pond began to flow were:
1994WY = 0.121 cfs
19934T = 0.360 cfs
1992WY = 0.131 cfs
1991WY = 0.189 efs
1990VY = 0.135 cfs
1989WT = 0.214 cfs
1988WY = 0.180 cfs
1987WY = 0.110 cfs
1986WY (Water Year) = 0.294 cfs
1985CY = 0.357 cfs
1984CT = 0.447 cfs
1983CT (Calendar Year) = 0.154 cfs (reservoir did not completely fill until
March 7, 1983)
Review of hydrographs and the above table shows that in 1994, flows were the lowest since
1987. Also affecting flow from the 004 pond is the reduced diameter of the discharge
culvert modified on May 29, 1987 (36 inches to b inches).
Review of Table 15 shows the water at Chis site to be a MgCa-504 type. TDS has
consistently increased since 1982 primarily due to a concurrent increase in upgradient
mined area and ground water resaturation in the spoils.
Surface Water Site SW-52-6. This site monitors Cow Camp Creek less than 1/4 mile
downstream of the NPDES 004 discharge and an adjacent diversion ditch. Review of a
hydrograph consisting of ell data from May, 1981 to September, 1994 indicates lower than
normal peak snowpeck runoff. Peak flows at this site have been reduced further by the
reduction of the discharge culvert diameter in 1987 at the NPDES 004 site discussed •
earlier.
10
