Discharge point 001 is also used to dewater the Roadside Mine.
• The discharge line froze in January 1991, and was not repaired
until September 1991. Only enough water was pumped from the mine
to satisfy the requirements of the preparation plant while the
discharge line was not in service. Dewatering of the Cameo Mine
continued all year from discharge point 004. Tables 591-5 and
591-6 summarize the monthly discharge from these points and data
pages SD-4, SD-5, SF-7 and SF-8 list results of weekly sampling
at these sites.
A summary of the average quality of the water discharged during
the year is as follows:
Point pH TDS TSS TFe Discharge
001 8.43 786mg/L <10mg/L 0.07mg/L 4.10 MG
004 8.29 1615 <10 0.17 55.66
GROUND WATER
The ground water monitoring points located on Cottonwood and
Rapid Creeks were monitored twice during the year. Results of
the monitoring are listed on data page GA-1. The following is a
comparison of this year's readings with the average depth to
water for the previous 5 years.
Location May '91 May Ave. Sept '91 Sept Ave.
•
GWMS-OlA 5.3 5.8 6.4 6.9
-O1B 6.7 7.3 8.0 8.5
-02A 18.3 16.9 18.8 17.7
-02B 15.2 17.5 22.4 22.0
-03A 11.1 10.3 11.2 11.6
- -03B 9.6 8.9 10.8 10.5
The water level in these piezometers did not correlate with flow
in adjacent creeks as well as it has some years in the past.
GWMS-O1 showed higher than average water levels while the
adjacent SWGS=01 flume showed lower than normal flows. GWMS-02
and 03 showed lower than normal levels while SWGS-02 showed lower
than normal flow and SWGS-03 showed near normal flow.
Piezometers on the Cameo Refuse Disposal Area No. 1 were
monitored quarterly. Results of this monitoring is given on data
pages GC-2.
