A renewal application was submitted to the
Department of Health in January, 1990, but a new permit has not
been granted. As usual, there were no discharges from the
sediment ponds due to normal site runoff. Pond No. 6 did
discharge in September, 1991, as a result of flooding in Coal
Canyon which overflowed into the pond. Other than this emergency
discharge, no discharge was reported for outfalls 005 through
014. Outfall 3 is an abandoned discharge point for dewatering
the Old Cameo mine and had no reported discharge for the year.
outfall 002 is a discharge point for dewatering the Roadside
Mine. The permit renewal application proposes moving the
location of this outfall to the Northwest Intake portal. Water
formerly pumped from this point has been filling the abandoned
portions of the Roadside Mine since last pumped in 1989. The
water level is projected to reach the Northwest Intake portal
. during late 1992 or early 1993, at which time discharge from
outfall 002 will resume.
