<br />13.3.2.3 Effluent and Waste Controls <br />13.3.2.3.1 Air Emissions <br />Air emissions, if any, from the crushing, sorting or w.acer <br />treatment operations shall be controlled in accordance with <br />applicable permits and referenced documents. <br />13.3.2.3.2 Liquid Discharge <br />1 There shall be no significant radioactive liquid discharge from <br />the licensed facilities other than that authorized by ,applicable <br />permits. Surface run off from the ore crusher-sorter, ore <br />transfer pad, and water treatment areas shall be contained. <br />.2 A11 major tanks and sumps shall have level controllers and <br />alarms. Emergency catchment basins shall have alarms. <br />13.3.2.3.3 Failure of Containment Equipment <br />Operations shall be immediately suspended in the affected areas <br />of the licensed facilities if any of the containment e~~uipment <br />is inoperative. Operations may not be restarted after cessation <br />due to aff normal performance until needed corrective .actions <br />have been identified and implemented. All such cessations, <br />corrective actions, and restarts shall be reported to .he <br />Department in writing, within 10 days of the subsequen_ restart. <br />13.3.2.3.4 Radioactive Sludges and Sediment Disposal <br />Accumulations of radioactive materials in clarifiers, Filters, <br />and exchange columns shall be minimized. Filter press cake <br />shall normally be removed from the site each operating weekday, <br />and ion exchange back wash shall be removed at least e'+ery two <br />months. Sludges shall be removed from the evaporation and <br />drying ponds annually. <br />13.3.2.3.5 Facility Trash <br />.1 Radioactive or toxic materials, including construction, <br />operating and decommissioning waste generated by licensed <br />operations which have become contaminated above levels specified <br />in Annex C may be disposed of only in an area and in a manner <br />approved by the Department. <br />2 [von-contaminated trash may be disposed of only in accordance <br />with state and local regulations in an area designated to <br />receive such material. <br />-12- <br /> <br />
