Approximately 3,100 feet of new light-use roads were
constructed. Approximately 6,000 feet of existing light-use roads were used in addition to the
new light use roads to reach the pole locations. Existing light-use roads were cleared of rocks
and graded Seed and fertilizer were hand-broadcast along the road cuts and embankments.
Variations in topography results in variations in widths of cuts and embarilanerrts, however,
an estimate of 25 feet in width, on average, would result in approximately 5.2 acres of
roadway seeded and fertilized. These light-use roads will be utilized for maintenance of the
permanently relocated Delta-Montrose Electric Association power line, and no fiuther
reclamation of the roads is planned. Copies of the certified seed tags are attached to this
report.
Following construction of the pad area for the ventilation shaft associated with Minor
Revision Number 45, the diversion ditches and the additional area of the enlarged topsoil
stockpile and sediment pond were seeded and fertilized. Even though this is a temporary
facility to be utilized for the approximately 5-yeaz remaining life of the Sanborn Creek Mine
B-Seam workings, it was decided to seed with the approved seed mix in the reclamation
plan. The previous disturbance at the substation site, constructed in 1994, was seeded with a
temporary seed mix, and was successfully revegetated in the first year. The approved final
reclamation seed mix, consisting of only native plants, will be evaluated by wmparison to
the previously-used temporary seed mix in the same soils at the same site. Seeded area of
this small addition to an existing site, that is not yet ready for reclamation, is estimated at
approximately 0.5 acres.
XBOw
