<br />n <br />~i <br />6.0 Decommissioning and Decontamination Plan <br />6.1 Decommissioning Procedures <br />This plan is applicable to the plant area, stockpile areas, t~uildings, <br />roads, concrete pads and equipment. The sequence to be followed is detailed <br />below and the estimated cost is shown in Section 6.2. <br />1. Disconnect or switch off all electricity in the ore sorter' and <br />adjacent support facilities. <br />2. Wash down all equipment, walls, ceilings and floors with water. <br />Collect the water and washings and pump them into the water <br />treatment plant. <br />3. Clean all equipment with steam or high pressure hot water. <br />Collect all washing fluids and pump them to the water treatment <br />• plant. <br />4. Remove all conveyor belting, roll it and stack it in the yard. <br />5. Remove all conveyor frames to the yard, and paint. <br />6. Remove balance of equipment, and paint. <br />7. Remove all decontaminated equipment to salvage yard for di>posal. <br />8. Wash down all exposed concrete with water, then remove all soil <br />within 10 feet from the edges of these structures to a dep~:h of <br />six inches. If the soil material shows significant radioactive <br />contamination it will be loaded into ore haul trucks and stripped <br />to the Canon City Mill and buried in the tailings pond. Tlie water <br />from the washing process will be channelled into the water treat- <br />ment plant. <br />i <br />
