5. OVERBURDEN SAMPLING
A. IN-PIT SAMPLING
Reauirement
As outlined in the September 28, 1982 Colowyo Findings and
Proposed Decision to Approve Permit. File No. C-019-81, the
January 4, 1983 minor revision, the August 11, 1983 minor
revision and the February 26, 1990 minor revision, Colowyo
continues to sample overburden in-pit prior to mining.
Response
UY and LY truck/shovel lifts, Section 11 dragline
overburden and Section 15/16 dragline overburden continue to
be monitored during 1992. Analysis of this overburden
monitoring program conducted during 1992, showed consistent
results with previous years.
Data for the analysis of the overburden samples can be
found in Exhibit 12 and 13. Sample locations are plotted on
the 1992 Annual Reclamation Report Map found in Exhibit 15.
The data obtained from the analysis of the overburden
sampling indicates no unacceptable material.
B. REGRADED AREA SAMPLING
Reauirement
As outlined in Exhibit 6. Geological Information, Item ~4,
Overburden Sample Program of the Colowyo Permit, a regraded
overburden sampling program is required at a density of one
sample per five acres of regraded area.
Response
Colowyo continues to utilize the "State Plane Coordinate
System" as the grid system for sampling regraded overburden
areas. Refer to Exhibit 15. 1992 Annual Report Map, for the
location of the sampled areas. Use of the intersecting lines
9
