~ ii
'd~3.2 RECOMMENDED MONITORING
' The monitoring wells installed in borings No. 2 and 3 should be monitored
throughout the construction and operation of the waste rock pile.
All the parameters marked with an x on the Baseline Water Quality Monitor-
' ing Requirements (Plate 4) should be tested for in an initial sample taken from
boring No. 2. All these parameters should also be tested for in an initial
sample taken from boring No. 3 if ground water is ever detected in this
' monitoring well. These parameters should be tested for quarterly (every three
months) throughout the construction and operation of the waste rock pile. Test
results should be submitted to the CMLRB.
After one year (four quarterly reports) of baseline monitoring the CMLRB
should be asked to review the laboratory testing program. They may at that time
approve the deletion of some of the parameters being tested for.
The following parameters should be monitored and measured in the field
month]y during the construction and operation of the pile.
J o Water level (the absence of water should be noted if the hole is dry)
o pH
o Conductivity at 25°C
7 o Temperature
1
The results of this monthly monitoring should be included in the quarterly
report to the CMLRB.
Water samples should be collected for analysis using a bailer type sampler.
Water should be bailed out of the well to the extent possible prior to sampling
j to insure that the sample collected is representative of the aquifer.
1
1
~~wuo coHwinrw. we
