October 2000 -18-
• SECTION 3
STANDARDS FOR STCES AND FACILITIES
3.1 LOCATION RESTRICTIONSAND SITE STANDARDS
3.1.1 Airports
003-2191
The Figure 6 shows the location of neazest airport to the depository site. Centennial
Airport is located some 9 miles to the northeast of the site. Since the airport is over 5
miles from the depositorysite, no notifications are required.
3.1.2 Wetlands
The depository site is not located in a swamp, marsh, bog or similaz azea that could be
defined as a wetland. The chazacter of the vegetation has been identified in Appendix 2
and the topographical relief, shown on Drawings 1 and 2, demonstrate that no wetlands
aze involved in the proposed depository. chazacter of the land is further characterized
by the description of the Ute Mining permit enclosed as Appendix 10. The azea is not
saturated, nor capable of being saturated, or inundated by surface or groundwater as
demonstrated by geology, drilling and geophysical logs. There is no vegetation on-site
that would typically be adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. The soil is a upland
soil and is not conducive to wetlands. The drainage azound Plum Creek contains
potential wet azeas but aze physically and hydrologically disconnected from the site.
This drainage is also approximately one-half mile down drainage from the depository
site.
3.13 Faults
No faulting has been identified in the immediate depository area or the azeas mapped in
the irrunediate region. The setting is unique in that the surface geology is a visual
vaoaiviawism~~.r~~~iaoo a« Sedalia Recycling Center and Depository
