(Federal--OfFice of Surface Mining) oversight inspection, and has been
continued to date. Coors Energy Company (CEC), with the cooperation of
the Division, will likely propose amerger/modification of these procedwes as
part of the upcoming renewal application for its Mining and Reclamation
Permit.
Additionally, CEC is concerned about the monitoring of wells located outside
the Permit boundary. Currently two (2) wells (DH 122 and DH 96) are
located on private property not owned by CEC and not within the Permit
area. CEC would like to work with the Division to avoid property issues, yet
comply with the rules and regulations in monitoring and sampling waters
potentially affected by its reclamation operations.
Data
All wells are sampled using the above described procedwe. The following is
tlne sequence in which the wells are presently sampled: (1) FPW, (2) DH
122, (3) DH 96, (4) AMW-1, (5) SMW-2. Historically, this represents the
ordering of the wells from least to greatest salinity.
• Ash Monitoring Well (AMW-2) remained "dry" through 1995. this well is
located on the North-East edge of "A" Pit (Cell) in a highly distwbed
reclaimed-overbwden area. The well was redrilled in 1993, as per
specifications supplied by the Division, and we continue to assume that
recharge in this area has yet to occw. It has also been noted that numerous
faults were evident in the coal seam to the West from this well's location.
There may be an effect from this activity on the recharge process.
Laboratory reports from 1995 are presented on the following pages. Each
well was double sampled, as per the procedwe described, for the entire year
(fow quarterly samplings). In reviewing the report, parameter values denoted
by the "A" following the well designation refer to the first five bailer volume
pwging procedwe. Parameter values denoted by the "B" following the well
designation refer to the three well volume pwging, followed by the second
five bailer volume pwging procedwe. All well samples appear to be
consistent with past analyses.
• The field analysis data can be found following the laboratory reports.
AHR-1995 -35- STIPULATION #5
