ATTACHME[1I'
Subsurface Water Monitorinc and Analysis
• Since the initiation of the formal ground-rater sampling
program in January 1982, sub-surface rater quality
information has been collected from monitor relle at the
Keeneeburg Mine. The present ground-rater monitoring program
hoe provided information which has delineated baseline
conditions concerning ground-rater movement and quality in
the active operations area.
The results obtained from data collected in the field and
from comprehensive rater quality analysis indicate that
surface and ground-water quality has not been significantly
impacted from the natural pre-mine conditions. In addition,
major ground-water movement patterns have not been
significantly influenced or interrupted by mining activities.
Subsurface water walla are monitored quarterly by Goors
Energy Company employees. The six yells monitored are:
SMW-2
AI1M-1
AMM-2
FPM
• DH-96
DH-122
Analysis includes both field and lab rork on ell yells.
During field testing, rater level ie measured from the top of
the casing and recorded prior to rater sampling. Water is
sampled rith a one liter PVC bailer. Five bailer volumes are
typically removed before taking the rater sample. Mhen the
sample is obtained, lab analysis and field analysis bottles
transportation to the laboratory. Testing of the field rater
sample ie then completed.
The eater sample ie tested to pH level, electrical
conductivity, measured calibrated each quarter at the time of
rater sampling rith a neutral solution of 7.0 pH. The
conductivity meter used measures electrical conductivity et
the sample temperature rhich is set automatically by the
meter. All the information that ie collected during field
testing is recorded in a field book which is kept et the 111ne
office.
•
-56- 9/93
AHR-1995 -34a- STIPULATION #5
