DMG Permit'NbWIR~@b~ f~ology
Monthly Sampling
Dear Mr. Dillie:
All required sampling was completed during the month of September. Enclosed are analytical
reports from Acculabs for the recent bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly sampling periods as specified
in the April 1992 Abatement Plan. Analysis that have not been received will be forwarded to you as
I receive them.
The NANO filtration plant is on site and has successfully completed a pilot run. The plant is fully ready
to operate and will be placed into service when approval is given by the CDPHE.
Engineering work continued on the stormwater diversion on Waste Rock "C" and a report was
submitted to the Division for approval.
Work also continued on the engineering of the proposed pipeline from the evaporation system
collection pond to the tailings impoundment. This engineering report will also be submitted to the
Division for approval.
All surface water stations were inspected and RS-4 and RS-6 were found to be dry.
Vacuum on the lysimeters was verified and no water was present to sample.
When we checked the piezometers on the main embankment of the tailings impoundment on
10/Ol /99, the piezometers were dry or contained below 12 inches of water.
The two west pit piezometers were measured for depth to water on 10/Ol /99, with the following
result: BF-1 was 14.14 ft and BF-2 was 17.65 ft. The other piezometers in the West Mine area were also
checked with the following result: PW-1 was 17.87 ft, PW-2 was 17.40 ft, PW-3 was 25.17 ft and PW-4
was 26.82 ft.
The underdrain was measured at approximately 26 gpm.
The collection pond's leak detection system was sampled and pumped dry. The leak was
measured at approximately 62 GPAD.
A SUBSIDIABY OF BATTLE MOUNTAIN GOLD COh1PANY'
PO. Box 310 San Luis, Colorado 8115?-0310 (719) 672-4122 Fax (7191 67?3363
