relative cover, a cool season sod former (Pascopyrum smithii -
Western wheatgrass) and a cool season bunch grass (Elytrigia
intermedia - Intermediate wheatgrass). The data do not
' demonstrate that three cool season bunch grasses are presently
contributing greater than 5 % relative cover as required.
' B. Riparian Community
Cover: (Table 2; summary in Table 9).
Total herbaceous cover for the community was 45.6 %.
Total perennial, non-noxious cover averaged 39.0 %, which is
87.80 of the success standard. The west and east riparian
areas differed greatly in cover. The west area had double the
total and perennial, non-noxious cover that the east area had,
' probably a reflection of the water table levels in the two
areas.
As mentioned before, total cover differed from total
' herbaceous cover in the riparian community because shrubs were
' encountered during sampling. For interest sake, total data
was included in Table 2a.
' Production: (Table 4; summary in Table l0).
t Total production for this reclaimed community was 1696
pounds per acre while perennial production was 1546 pounds per
14
1
