Richard W. Thompson
Page 2
August 5,1987
• If the prairie dog forage base is lost due to inundation replacement
should be an issue that must be addressed. Also in studying this issue,
black footed ferrets are a possibility of occurring in any prairie dog
colony. Therefore, even unlikely as it may be, the area should be
surveyed for them.
Mr. Babler and I Eeel that this is one of the better off-stream
reservoir sites which presents fewer environmental impacts than some
of the on-stream proposals that are now being considered. It is also
felt that with [he cooperative attitude exhibited thus far that even
the negative impacts can be mitigated to the satisfaction of everyone.
We would like to thank you for the opportunity to discuss this
project at this early point in its development and look forward to
working with you in future developments.
Sincerely yours,
~~~
Don Bogart
Environmental Biologist
DB/jk
cc: Habitat Resources
USF b WILDLIFE
Todd
Moss
Hodgson
Leonard
Babler
File
•
