T
Mr. Kent Gorham
February 28, 1994
Page 2
Also enclosed please statistical data summaries labeled as Tables 4a through 15a. Please
incorporate these revised and newly submitted materials into the 1994 Mine No. 3 AHR
document as appropriate.
Lastly, in response to General Comment 1 from your letter of February 15, 1995
regarding the review of the 94 Mine 3 AHR, CYCC provides the following information:
The datum elevations for the suspended stream gauges at the surface sites are
deternrined as follows:
The elevation of the plumb bob tip is surveyed with the indicator at the 3 foot mark
on the cross bar guage. Three feet is subtracted from [his plumb bob elevation to
determine the datum elevation that is at or below the stream bed elevation. Stream
surface elevations are de[emrined by adding the cross bar guage reading, with the
plumb bob tip touching the water surface, to the datum elevation. The stream flow
charts are tied to the datum elevation and are shifted as required to reflect changes in
cross bar elevation or replacement of plumb bob cables. The cross bar is surveyed
periodically to deternine any elevation changes.
If you Dave any fi~rther questions or concerns, please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
~~~
Tammie Gawford
Secretary, Surface / Enviro~ ntal
attaclunent
