The three new wells have only one year of montoring and therefore have
no trends. The calcium in these wells range from a low of 20.4mgfl in the 82-4
well to a high of 132mg11 in the 94-1 well. Well 82-4 has slightly elevated
chlorides at 45mg/I while the other two wells have 14 and 11 mg/l. There is a
substantial variation in the dissolved Magnesium with a variation from 4.Omgll to
86.8mg/I. Dissolved sodium is slightly above 300mg/I in 82-4 and 10-B while it is
lower in 176 and 941 at the 100-140 range. Sulfates range In the wells from 27
in 17B to 483mg/l in 94-1. It should be noted that none of the ground water wells
have been pumped and therefore the analysis performed is on the well bore water
and may be subject to change 'rf pumped on a long-term basis. TDS for the
ground water wells is reasonably consistent varying from a low in 17B of 393mg/l
to 1237mgll in 94-1. Since Well 94-1 was drilled in the first of 1994, there could
be drilling influence to the water found in that well. PH, conductivity and the other
parameters remain consistent for the ground water monitoring wells.
The surtace water locations are the two springs mentioned above. For
these two well the Total Alkalinity is consistent at the 400mg/l level. Dissolved
calcium varies from 539 to 338mg/I while Bicarbonate is in the SOOmg/I level.
Chlorides are 45-46mg/l and Magnesium is 173 to 201 mg/l. TDS is higher than
the ground water wells at 2378 to 3028mg/l. A TDS graphical analysis Indicates
that TDS is consistent from each spring with variations between the springs. This
is likely because they originate from different strata and from different geological
horizons.
DISCUSSION OF FUTURE ACTIVITIES
The Carbon Junction Mine has a Technical Revision approved for reduced
frequency for monitoring of the surface and the ground water well. Beginning in
1995 the company will monitor the surtace water quarterly and the ground water
semi-annually. The annual report will continue to be a compilation of the
summary data and will be presented to the DIvlslon In the approved format.
__, :~,.,....:~r..,..... r
