ANNUAL HYDROLOGIC REPORT
CARBON JUNCTION MINE
C-02-080
BACKGROUND
During the year of 1994 Oakridge Energy, Inc. completed two addfional
ground water monitoring welts, the Well 94-1 and Well 10-B. These two wells
were part of the permit requirements to have additional monitoring locations both
in and surrounding the proposed pit. Well 94-1 was a newly drilled well in the
northern portion of the existing pit while Well 10-B was a deepened core hole.
The well reports for the wells were previously submitted to the Division. Both
wells were cased and prepared for long-term monitoring. Both wells will ultimately
be in the mining area.
The Carbon Junction Mine has two other ground water wells which are
monitored and reported to under the approved reporting criteria. Well 176 has
been monitored for several years and Well 82-4 has been available for monitoring
since it was drilled in 1982. Due to the depth of Well 82-4, collection of water
samples has been deferred until 1994. Thus, there are three additional ground
water wells which have one year's data included in the 1994 Annual Report.
There are three springs which are a part of the hydrologic monitoring
program and the two sediment ponds. There were no discharges from the
sediment ponds and one of the springs is dry. Therefore, there is no reporting on
these points. The two springs that have flows are the CJ-LO Spring # 4 and the
REA Spring #3. These are surface water monitoring locations which have been
reported on in this report.
SUMMARY
The historic quality of the ground water has remained consistent since
monitoring began. The attachments and charts indicate that the calcium, sodium,
chloride and the sulfate has remained consistent since 1988 in Well 176.
Calcium has average approximately 15 to 25 mg/I range over the time examined.
There are no dramatic changes in the range. The sodium has likewise remained
in the less than 100mg/l range during the period. The chloride has consistently
remained under 10mg/I. Sulfate is consistently low in the 25mg/l range.
