Analyses presented in the quarterly reports show moni-
' toring results from discharges from the wastewater
treatment plant as required under NPDES Permit No. CO-

0038776. There was one instance during the Water Year
in which a discharge exceeded an NPDES permit limita-
tion. One of the samples collected during the report-
' ing period indicated a BODS of 72 mg/1 which exceeded
the maximum concentration allowed under the permit for
' 4
25
5 mg/1. This exceedence occurred on July
,
BODS of
' 1983 when flow in the North Fork was 715 cfs. The
corresponding dilution ratio exceeds 200,000 to 1. The
' incremental increase in BOD is estimated as .0003
mg/1. Since there have been no other exceedances of

any effluent limitations at Outfall 007, it is fair to
1 say that this was an isolated occurrence that had no
adverse impact on the receiving stream.

Mine Water
'
Mine inflows dur ing 1983 were small. The estimate of
total mine water inflow during Water Year 1983 is 6.07
acre feet. The quality of mine water is considered
good and offers no problem for treatment and discharge
' altho ugh most of the inflow infiltrated back into the
coal.
i~
-28-
