GROUND WATER
The piezometers on the mine bench were monitored quarterly for
water level. Graphs are included with this report which show
historical water levels of the piezometers. The water level in
P-1 peaked in March 1988 about the same time the superficial
slump was found on the bench cover material. Since March the
water level in P-1 has dropped 11.4 feet. During the last two
years P-1 has shown wide seasonal variations with the peak water
level occurring in March and the low water level occurring in
Deoember.
The piezometer at the top of the bench, P-4, showed little varia-
tion during the year. Its water level has increased 2.3 feet
since December 1987.
Piezometer P-3 showed a peak water level in March then it vir-
tually dried up by December. This same seasonal variation also
occurred during 1987 but it was not quite as pronounced.
Piezometer P-2 showed little variation and little water which is
consistent with prior years records for this piezometer.
The north underdrain had more flow during 1988 than 1987. The
north underdrain's flow increased from 0.06 to 0.10 acre-feet.
The south underdrain's total flow decreased from 0.70 to 0.27
acre-feet. The mass average conductivity for both underdrains
was lower than Last year. These averages for 1988 were 2304 and
4486 compared to 1987's 2385 and 4638 for the north and south
underdrain respectively. The conductivity is measured in
umhos/cm. These differences in flow calculations and conductivity
measurements may be influenced by the quarterly monitoring
frequency performed during 1988 which was the first complete year
of quarterly monitoring.
MINB WATER
The mine was sealed in 1986. No provisions were made for
monitoring the water level in the mine once it was sealed, there-
fore no mine inflows information was collected in 1988. No mine
inflows map for 1988 is being submitted.
CONSUMPTIVE USE OF WATER
There was no consumptive use of water during the year.
HYDROLOGIC IMPACTS
The hydrologic impact from the reclaimed
The discharge from the pond no. 5 was the
into hubbard creek from the mine site and
acre-feet for the entire year.
mine site is minimal.
only direct discharge
it only totaled 0.23
-2-
