ANNiIAL REPORT FOR OCROBER 10, 1982 PERAiIT ANNIVERSARY
PORTI.4ND PLANT QUARRY PERMIT NO. 77-344 RECEIVED
FREhDNT OJUNI9', COLORADO
IDEAL BASIC INDUSTRIES, INC. 0 C r 1982
MINED LA
Attached map pce-1387 D has been marked to outline areas ofCQlA' [. o Fla: rz nescuice:
operation and the various phases of affected land as of about October 1,
1982. In compliance with Rule 2.41, the following information is given
by item inmibers indicated.
(1) Location and Number of Acres Affected During the Year
Affected acres for this report total 317 as compared to 284 last
year. Thirty-three acres have been added as new disturbance due to
proposed excavation of overburden to commence in Cut 5, plus cork and
ramp area in Out 6 in 1983.
General information on the minima, by individual cuts is as follows:
Cut #1 -Completely backfilled with overburden from Cut #3.
Topsoil from Cut #3 and Cut 114+ spread over the north 2/3
of the fill material in Gut #1. Southern portion to be
covered with topsoil from Cut #5.
Cut #2--Mining of limestone complete. Anticipate the removal of 25,000
tons of sand in the next three (3) months. Cut #2 has been
backfilled with overburden on the north and east areas.
Some topsoil from the east end of Cut 14 has been spread on
the eastern portion of Cut #2. Approximately 2.7 acres of
the overburden from Cut #2 was seeded with grass in May 1982.
Cut 143--Overburden removal complete. Approximately 100,000 tons of
Type I limestone and 390,000 tons of Type II limestone remain
in Cut #3 to be excavated. It is interesting to note that the
present Type II face is approximately where the Type I face was
one year ago. Provisions have been made in Cut #3 to haul the
limestone around the overburden that will be removed from Cut #5
and placed into the southern end of Cut #3.
Out #4--0verburden removal is estimated at 90 percent complete. The
brown shale was successfully removed with the stripping shovel
without blasting. The blue shale averaged 42 feet in depth
and required blasting. The overburden face is close to the fault
zone and removal should be complete by year' s end. A ramp mid-
way east and west on the north side of Cut #6 is being considered
for easier access for the stripping shovel. The proposed stock-
pile of topsoil from Cut ;A was eliminated by hauling topsoil to
Cuts 1, 2 and west of the secondary crusher on the Cut jf1 over-
burden. Some of this topsoil was also added to the safety berms.
Cut #5--Excavation anticipated to commence by the end of this year.
Due to the depth of this cut, a two-bench excavation plan similar
to that used in Out #4 is being considered. At this point, the
upper bench is anticipated to be 40 feet + and the lower to be
25 feet. Blasting is anticipated in both benches.
