'', CASTLE CONCRETE COMPANY'S MINED LAND RECLAMATION 1989 - 1990 ANNUAL REPORT FOR: SNYDER QUARRY PERMIT NUMBER: M-77-210 DATE OF INSPECTION FOR DATA IN REPORT: MAY 1990 SUMMARY: During the last year this operation changed very little from the previous year. The most significant event was the addition of a small area in the northwest corner of the operation. This amendment generated considerable public controversy and was a very expensive amendment. RULE 2.41(1): LOCATIDN AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING THAT YEAR. There was little change from the previous year in amount of land affected in this operation. The affected ]and remains at about 30 to 35 acres with about 5 acres directly involved in the mining process. However, the last year was not a quiet year for this operation. A small amendment to the quarry involving the northwest corner of the operation generated considerable public controversy. This amendment cost the company in excess of 8100,000 to add to the permit. RULE 2.41(2): LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR. Only a small amount of land (about 1.5 acres) was placed in reclamation in the last year. This lack of new land entering reclamation is a direct result of the lack of demand for aggregate. However, as Phase I is nearing completion, it is expected that in the next couple of years the amount of land under reclamation will accelerate considerably. RULE 2.41(3): THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES IN THE VARIOUS STAGES OF RECLAMATION (BACKFILLED, GRADED, TOPSOIL REPLACED, REVEGETATED). Approximately 10 acres is under reclamation at this operation. This includes the visual berm, the waterline corridor from Cedar Heights to the quarry, the canyon fill, and the Phase I reclamation. Previous annual reports detail the reclamation land amounts.
