All
mining occurred in the Phase I area and covered about 5
acres. About 1 acre in Phase 1 was seeded. An amendment
was applied for to allow the installation of a washing
system at the quarry. The visual berm vegetation is
continuing to show good development.
RULE 2.41 1 LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES AFFECTED DURING THAT YEAR.
Between 30 and 35 acres of land within the permit was affected at one
time or another during the past year. Of this about 5 acres was involved
directly in the extraction of rock. The remainder of the land was utilized
for the transport of the rock from the mining area, access to the mining
area, processing of the rock, and stockpiling of the products.
As shown on the annual report map, all mining occurred in the Phase I
area of the 1984 permit amendment area. Access to the mining area was via
a road constructed through the Phase II area. All other activities needed
to conduct the operation were contained within the pre-1984 amendment area
which is equivalent to the former permit area.
RULE 2.41 2 LOCATIONS AND NUMBER OF ACRES RECLAIMED FOR THAT YEAR.
The only area placed under reclamation during the past year was about
1 acre on the south end of Phase I. This area was partially backfilled,
topsoiled and seeded. It was expected that pinyon pine trees would be
planted on the area, but our order for trees which was placed with the
Colorado State Forest Service was canceled for lack of available
material. Therefore, the tree planting will need to be delayed until
next year.
RULE 2.41 3 THE LOCATION AND NUMBER OF ACRES IN THE VARIOUS STAGES OF
RECLAMATION (BACKFILLED, GRADED, TOPSOIL REPLACED, REVEGETATED).
Little reclamation has been implemented on this operation. The reason
for this lack of reclamation is due to the need to keep nearly all the land
which has been affected since the operation began in operation. However,
now that the Phase I area is well under way, reclamation of the quarry will
Page 1 of 3 1988 SNYDER QUARRY ANNUAL REPORT
