<br />introduction• <br /> <br />In compliance with Rule 2.04.13, Bowie Resources Limited (BRL), Permit No. C- <br />81-038, submits the following Annual Reclamation Report for the 1996 calendar <br />year. <br />1996 Reclamation Activities <br />During the 1996 calendar year, Bowie Resowces expanded the West Ridge Waste <br />Pile following the revised Waste Pile Design depicted in Technical Revision No. 25. <br />This expansion slightly increased the width of the pile at the north end thus <br />increasing the storage volwne. This expansion project disturbed less than one- <br />quarter acre. Topsoil removed during this expansion was redistributed along the top <br />of the refuse pile, capping off portion of the north to south ridge. (See location 38, <br />exhibit 8 for detail). <br />Other reclamation activities conducted throughout the referenced year was the <br />seeding and mulching of the West Ridge Refuse Pile (see location 38, exhibit 8). <br />This area was seeded during the month of October using permanent seed mix #5 <br />(excluding sluvb species). <br />Reclamation History <br />An extensive reclamation project was initiated in the fall of 1977, to address the <br />Bowie No. 1 Mine, (formally Orchard Valley) upper mine area, middle area, mine <br />roads, and the new county road alignment near the existing coal stockpile. Colorado. by Harner and <br />Associates. <br />Revegetation of cut and fill slopes was accomplished in 1978 on previously seeded <br />but sparsely vegetated and eroded slopes stemming from excessive water runoff <br />caused by the lack of effective water diversion system. <br />
