3.8 Test Plot Soil Sampling
' Soil chemical analysis results are presented by Test Plot in Tables 32-34. Additional
discussion of the significance of sampling results is presented in Section 4.0.
' p13
Values of pH varied from 8.0 to 8.4, a relatively small range. The lowest pH readings
occurred in the 0-6" sample from the Test Plot 2 24" treatment. The highest pH
' readings were split between the 0-6" sample from the Test Plot 1 12" treatment and the
samples from 12-48" in the Test Plot 1 48" treatment. The general trend in all test
plots was toward higher pH values with increasing depth.
' Conductivity (EC)
' EC values in the sampling varied widely from a low of 1.0 (0-6" sample; Test Plot 3
24" treatment) to a high of 22.2 (18-24" sample from Test Plot 1 48" treatment) which
is also the sample yielding the highest pH and SAR values. As with pH, the general
trend was toward higher EC values with increasing soil depth in all test plots.
SAR
Individual cation concentrations will not be specifically discussed in detail, except as
they relate to sodium adsorption ratio. SAR values varied greatly from a low of 0.4 (0-
6" sample from Test Plot 1 24" treatment) to a high of 51.7 (18-24" sample from Test
Plot 1 48" treatment). The deeper soils tended to have the higher SAR values below
18" in depth. There was no specific evidence of significant salt migration to surface or
shallow depths, as indicated by sodium and SAR values.
1
' 45
