1
Herbaceous Production
Total herbaceous production for this area was 120.24 g/m2 (1070.14 Ib/ac). The
perennial grass, Agropyron cristatum accounted for the majority of herbaceous
production with 72.12 g/m2 representing 60.096 of total production. Bromus
japonicas/tectorum accounted for 9.5% of production. Dt;scurainia Sophia and
' Chorispora tenella comprised 29.6% of total production. Herbaceous production
sampling results are presented in Table 24 for the North Area.
Woody Plant Density and Dimensions
Atriplex confertifolia was the only woody plant species represented on this plot. One
' individual was counted for a density of 15/acre. The lazgest woody plant was an
Atrip/ex confertifolia individual measuring 45 cm high by 67 cm in diameter. Woody
Plant information is presented in Tables 29 and 30.
Species Diversity
Three lifeforms were represented on this treatment plot. Perennial and annual grasses
were represented by three and one species respectively, and annual forbs by two
species. Cryptogams were also present. Of these lifeforms, those representing greater
' than three percent relative cover included perennial grasses (one species), annual
grasses (one species), and the two species of annual forbs.

3.6 South Area
1
Cover
' Vegetation cover comprised 28.4% of the ground cover in this area. Grass species
accounted for 18.4% mean cover, forbs were represented by 1.2% mean cover, and
woody plants comprised 8.8°6 mean vegetation cover. Litter provided 24.8% total
cover, baze ground 46.8%, and no rock was encountered. Table 25 presents cover
results for the South Area.
' Bromus japonicas/tectorum dominated the graminoids with 16.4% mean cover (53.6%
relative cover). Agropyron cristatum, the other graminoid represented, comprised
2.0% mean cover and 13.196 relative cover. Forbs were represented by two species,
1]escuramia Sophia at 0.8% mean and 2.6% relative cover and Chorispora tenella with
0.4% mean cover and 1.3% relative cover.
' 42
