Long
Division Director
FROM: Jim Pendleton ~ ~~"-`
RE: Mountain al pang, October, 1996
Semi-Annua Subsidence Monitoring Report
(Permit No: C-80-007)
I have reviewed the October, 1996 semi-annual subsidence data report
submitted by Mountain Coal Company for mining within the "B" Seam at their
West Elk Mine. This report contains a straight forward rendition of the
survey data for Mountain Coal Company's numerous subsidence monitoring
points. While the annual report is intended to contain an in depth discussion
of the observed movement, the Division recently amended Mountain Coal's
(MCC's) permit requirements to require a brief discussion in the semi-annual
report, as well. MCC's brief cover letter discussion and detailed data report
are acceptable.
The maximum reported vertical subsidence continues to be less than the
predicted magnitude contained within MCC's amended permit application. I
recommend acceptance of the report as submitted.
cc: Dave Berry
doc: M:\COAL\JAP\MTG11096.SU6
JP\JP
