• 1997 Annual Hydrologic Report
Page 10
Impacts
The total dissolved solids for the mine discharges calculated with monthly TDS and
monthly flow for the Year come out to be 79.9 tons for 001, 958.9 tons for 002 and
766.7 tons for 004 fora total of 1805.5 tons. The following table presents the total
TDS discharged from the mine during the three prior years.
Outfalls 001, 002 & 004
Water Year 1994 1995 1996 1997
TDS (Tons) 1543.6 1193.6 1163.7 1805.5
The 1997 TDS discharge represents .10% of the 1.759 million tons calculated to be
carried by the River. Long term discharge from the Roadside North will cease upon
completion of mining. At the Roadside South, water is expected to continue to
discharge from 002 beyond closure and flow is expected to increase by the amount
• previously discharged from outfall 001 and the amount previously used for mining and
processing.
There was no detectable effect of mining on flows in Cottonwood and Rapid Creeks.
Mining projections in the Roadside South have been put on hold and discharges will
return to near normal when the panel to the East fills with water and overflows. An
increase in inflows is expected as mining progress west and north in the Roadside
North Portal, but is not expected to significantly influence the flow in the Creeks.
Consumptive water use continued to be closely tied to production and is expected to
show similar trends in the future.
i•
