• yearling requires 64B pounds of forage per month, a total of 168,817 pounds of forage were
consumed (648 pounds of forage x 1.67 months x 156 yearlings). The 1992 forage production
in the Wadge Pasture as determined from 1992 revegetation monitoring was estimated to be
999,462 pounds (314 acres x 3183 pounds per acre). The 1992 estimated forage utilization
by livestock in the Yadge pasture was 17 percent (168,817 pounds of forage consumed/999,462
pounds of available forage). Approximately 500 ewes were run on reclaimed areas at [he
Seneca Mine II in spring 1992. In fall 1992, approximately 500 ewes were also run on
reclaimed areas for 20 days. Inaccurate records at the mine precluded a determination of
forage utilization for the spring and fall sheep grazing. A new pasture (see PECOCO
pasture on Exhibi[ 92.5) was established in 1992. This pasture will be available for
grazing in 1993.
Chronoloci wl History of Revegetation. Areas revegetated prior to [992 at the Seneca II
Nine are listed by field number in Table 6 and shown on Exhibit 90.3, Chronological History
of Revegetation Activities of the 1990 Annual Reclamation Report (PCC, 1991) or are
reported in the 1991 Annual Reclamation Report (PCC, 1992) and shown on Exhibit 91.4 of the
1991 report.
• Sedimentation Pond Surveys
Peabody is required by Permit C-80-005 to monitor sedimentation ponds for sediment storage
capacities. In TR-15, CNLRB approved the following frequency schedule to conduct sediment
surveys for the ponds at Seneca II Xine.
Sedimentation Pond Frequency Next Scheduled Survey
002 Once Every 5 Years 1993
003 Onee Every 5 Years 1993
004 Once Every 2 Years 1993
008 Once Every 2 Years 1993
This schedule will provide a sediment yield history end allow advance warning to operations
personnel when sediment clean-out work is required. In accordance with Rule 4.05.6(11)(c),
Peabody visually inspects each pond a minimum of quarterly each year. During these
inspections, any drastic change in sedimentation storage or sudden increase in a sediment
• delta at the inlet to the pond could be detected which would require mitigative action.
No sediment clean-ou[ work was conducted during 1992 for the sedimentation ponds et Seneca
8
